“It is important I be a friend to the person going through a divorce, custody dispute, etc. Going through a divorce is in some ways harder than dealing with the death of a loved one. People need to know it is going to get worse before it gets better. My job is to make the hard parts simple on the legal side, so they can focus on their own healing and moving on with their lives.”
– Myra
With nearly three decades in family law, Myra Chack Fleischer strives to avoid court where possible, driving the settlement of assets through mediation, while maintaining a formidable reputation as a fierce litigator when needed. She is on the short list of attorneys qualified to serve as a “Special Master”, which allows her to act as a referee to give opinions to the court on financial issues such as competing business valuations, income analyses, division of personal property, etc. Myra is also able to assist fellow attorneys as a consultant on their complex financial cases. All of this is rooted in Myra’s strong financial background and the desire to assist the court in resolutions that minimize conflict for families.
Experience & Education
Myra has been practicing law in San Diego since 1997. She also has experience in civil litigation. Fleischer is one of only 200 Certified Family Law Specialists (CLS-F) in San Diego County, a designation which denotes specialized expertise in this area of family law. Prior to becoming an attorney, Myra worked for 10 years in public accounting and then as the controller of an international mid-sized software company.
Fleischer received her JD (Juris Doctorate) from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. During her time as a student, she was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Bancroft Whitney Award in Federal Income Taxation. Prior to law school, Myra attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She majored in marketing and earned a B.B.A. She also completed post graduate work in accounting from Temple University.
